JoAnn Rollins Drum, Edmond, OK, was called home to be with her Savior on Monday, December 28, 2009. She was born to Clyde and Eva Clark Rollins on August 24, 1934 at Madill, OK. Her parents; her beloved husband, Don; brother, Clyde Rollins, Jr.; and nephew, Larry Love, predeceased her. JoAnn is survived by sons: Mark and his wife, Avy, Albuquerque, NM; and Dane, Oklahoma City; grandsons: Danny and Matt Drum, Albuquerque; and sisters and their husbands: Lavaughn and Frank Nelson and Willa and Bill Love, Oklahoma City. Others who will greatly miss her are other family, wonderful neighbors and a host of friends. Also, she leaves many special International students who have become her second family After graduating from Konawa High School in 1952, JoAnn attended East Central University in Ada, OK, where she earned a BS degree in Business Education in 1955. She then moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico, to begin her teaching career and where she met her future husband, Don. Their married life began in 1956 and lasted almost 51 years before Don died in 2007. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1960, when Don started to work at Tinker Air Force Base. JoAnn taught in the Mid-Del schools until her retirement in 1989. JoAnn diligently worked for the Lord throughout her lifetime. She became a Christian in her early childhood and through the years, used her musical and teaching talents at whatever church she attended. Some of her ministries included playing the piano, singing, choir director and teaching Sunday School classes and bible studies. She spent many hours visiting sick people in hospitals and in their homes. For many years, JoAnn and Don opened their home to International students, where they provided bible studies, social activities and, in many cases, served as loving, substitute "mom and dad" to lonely students from around the world. Also, for the past 15 years, she led a weekly bible study for her beloved friends at Oklahoma Christian Apartments. JoAnn was blessed with a husband who was totally supportive in all her ministries. The outpouring of love shown to her since she was diagnosed with cancer last March overwhelmed JoAnn. Her sons wish to thank the many people who visited, called, brought food and gave encouragement to JoAnn and the family during these last months. Services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 31, 2009, at Spring Creek Assembly of God Church, 1600 S.E. 15, Edmond. Services under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home Edmond, OK. Contribution can be made to Larry Love Memorial Scholarship Fund at OSU-OKC (900 N. Portland Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73107).
