She was born At Balzar, Russia, Sept. 25, 1844. In the year 1875 she migrated with her husband and family to America and settled northwest of Sutton, Nebr. Later they moved to Friend; here they became members of the German Congregational church. In 1901, her husband, Georg Bender, preceded her in death. In 1914, she moved with her son, George, to Sumatra, where she resided until her departure.
Mrs. Bender is survived by her three sons, Jacob, George and William; one daughter, Mrs. Marie Sage, and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 15th, at the German Congregational church in Friend; Rev. Phillip Reich officiating. -Friend Sentinel.
The Bender family were homesteaders in the Eldorado vicinity, where four of their children, are buried. Gustav P. Ochsner now occupies the farm. Mrs. Bender was an aunt of the late Jacob Bender.
