She graduated from Montrose High School.
She married Elmer Kokenge on January 12, 1963 at Seneca, Kansas. They raised three children.
Marlene worked as a cook for USD 321. She enjoyed reading, cooking for her family, flower gardening and decorating for the holidays.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Elmer; her three children, Deanna Schneider, Larry Kokenge and Chris Kokenge; her grandchildren, Deran Kokenge and Krista Bell; a great-grandchild, Holden Bell; and her siblings, Richard McMillan, Alan McMillan and Kathy Janz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Ken McMillan.
A simple memorial service and reception will be held Monday, August 20, 2012 from 11:00 a.m.to 1:00 p.m. at Parish Center, 701 Main St., Rossville, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 NW Rochester Rd., Topeka, Kansas 66617.
The family will hold a private inurnment at Rossville Cemetery at a later date.
