Mrs. Agnes Martin, 76, died unexpectedly at her home at 7:35 p.m. Saturday, May 12. She had lived in Wellington since 1945, coming here with her family from Dimmitt. She worked for many years as a saleswoman in Wellington, first for Raburn Grocery, then for Lewis Grocery until she retired. Mrs. Martin was a member of First Baptist Church. She was born March 1, 1908, in Cooper, the daughter of C.C. Lancaster and Jessie Watson Lancaster. She was married to James W. Martin at Petersburg March 11, 1926. He died August 4, 1955.

Mrs. Martin is survived by one son, Leon Martin of Wellington; one grandson, Kevin Martin of Wellington; three brothers: Otto Lancaster of Portales, N.M., Lester Lancaster of Hart and Powell Lancaster of San Diego, Calif; 6 sisters: Vidi Mae Mauldon, Polly Hudson and Betty Rice, all of Fort Worth; Juanita Horton of Lubbock, Ruby Wellborn of Weatherford, and Gladys Bartlett of Canton. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jody Lynn Martin, Feb. 17, 1973.
