Ida Vesalainen came after work from Southern Savonia to Kymenlaakso where she worked as a maid. In Raussila, Elimäki she met her husband Vihtori Mäkelä who was a hired man in the Matinsyli household at the time same time as Ida worked as a maid in the Pörkki household.
The couple was wedded on the 13th of November 1904 and they got six children. Vihtori built two small cottages for his growing family and they lived in the latter built cottage for the rest of their lives.
Ida Mäkelä died of stomach ailment in Elimäki, Kymenlaakso, Finland on the 23rd of August 1953 at the age of 68. She was buried to the Haavisto Cemetery, Pyhtää, Kymenlaakso, Finland.
