DUMAS (HC) - A 20-year old Dumas man was killed Friday morning at 10:20 a.m., when a tractor he was driving overturned on a paved road two miles south and one mile west of Etter.

William Howard Aiken was apparently killed instantly when the small tractor rolled backwards into a culvert, flipped one time, and pinned Aiken in the wreckage. Aiken was mowing grass along the road when the accident occurred.

The wreckage was discovered by a passing motorist a few minutes after the accident. Aiken was pronounced dead at the scene by Moore County Justice of the Peace Bob Sims. A winch truck was sent to the scene to lift the tractor so the body could be removed from the wreckage.

Aiken was born in Grayson County and had been a resident of Dumas for the past nine years.

Survivors include a daughter, Tammy Leatrice of the home; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Aiken of Dumas.

Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Dumas with Rev. B.N. Shepherd officiating, assisted by Rev. C.C. Billow. Burial will follow in Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
