Geneva Lorine Abernathy, 92, of Harvest, passed away Monday, August 13, 2012, at home. Mrs. Abernathy was born December 1, 1919 in Limestone County to Andrew Pepper and Susie Charlotte Yarbrough Pepper.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery with Everett Conn officiating.
Mrs. Abernathy was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Frank Abernathy, Terry Abernathy and David Abernathy; husband, James Abernathy; three brothers, John Grafton Pepper, William Reginald Pepper, Andrew Calvin Pepper; and four sisters, Francis Catherine Pepper Dabov, Rachel Virginia Pepper Wooten, Mary Ethel Pepper Smith, and Ruth Lucille Pepper Laxson.
Survivors include six daughters, Faye Keith and Margie Abernathy, both of Birmingham, Peggy Garland and husband Gene, Shelia Strain and husband Rick, all of Athens, Geneva Morris and husband Larry of Waterford, Mich., and Paulette McDowell and husband Matt of Pontiac, Mich.; six sons, Wayne Abernathy and wife Alice of Mansfield, Ohio, Jack Abernathy and wife Betty and Doug Abernathy and wife Karen, all of Limestone County, Joe Abernathy and wife Twylha of North Branch, Mich., Andrew Abernathy of Clarkston, Mich., and Scott Abernathy and wife Coleen of Pontiac, Mich; 29 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
