Alethia Rogers Bates, 92, of Kathleen died Tuesday April 6, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Committal services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Oak City Cemetery in Baingridge, GA. Rev. Warren Williams and Rev. Andy Cook will officiate.
Mrs. Bates, a native of Evans County, was the daughter of the late William and Sarah Montgomery Rogers. She was a lifelong Methodist and currently a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. A devoted mother to her own children, Mrs. Bates was a loving housemother at Georgia Southern University for 14 years and at Middle Georgia College for 2 years. She was formerly a resident of Bainbridge, Charlotte, NC and Culpepper, VA. She was preceded in death by her son Kermit Bates and grandson Hal Bates.
Survivors include her children; Sarah (Napp) Granade of Kathleen, Barbara Snipes of Macon. Grandchildren; Linda (David) Granade Thompson of Tallahassee, FL, Jeanie Granade Farmer of Warner Robins, Kathy (Gerry) Garande Brantley of Perry, Nelson (Sharilyn) Granade of North Wilkesboro, NC, Elise (Ell) Bates Willis of Bainbridge, Ben (Angela) Robuck of Newnan, Charles (Sarita) Snipes Jr. of Davis, CA, Pam Snipes of Macon. Greatgrandchildren; James, Maggie and Meredith Farmer, Leslie Thompson, Gray, Grant and Kasi Brantley, James Douglas and Emily Granade, Edward Tipton, Richard Bates, Justin, Peyton and Reid Willis, Susannah and John Robuck, Hope, Colin and Taylor Snipes. Sister-in-law; Ocie Lennard of Moultrie. Numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church Building Fund, 129 S. Houston Rd., Warner Robins, GA 31088 or the Shirley Hills Baptist Church Building Fund, 615 Corder Rd., Warner Robins, GA 31088.
