Mr. Robert Marshall Ahalt, 94, of Shepherdstown, WV, died Friday August 10, 2012, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.Born June 24, 1918, on his family farm in Broad Run, MD, he was a son of the late Marshall Conrad and Erma Brandenburg Ahalt.He was a graduate of Middletown High School, class of 1936.He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served during World War II with the 99th Field Artillery Division in the Battle of the Bulge, and was discharged in 1946.He was employed by the Potomac Edison Co., of Frederick, MD, transferring to Berkeley Springs, WV, as service manager, and later to the Martinsburg office as right-of-way agent. He retired to a small farm in Shepherdstown, WV. During his retirement he enjoyed raising beef cattle and gardening.He was a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Burkittsville, MD, and a current member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Zion of Middletown, MD.He was a charter member of AMVETS Post 9 of Middletown, MD, and a member of the Quarter Century Club of the Potomac Edison Co.He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Margaret Remsburg; two sons, Gregory Robert Ahalt and wife Debra Rennee of Martinsburg, WV, and Gary Marshall Ahalt and wife Alice Louise of Falling Waters, WV; two grandchildren, Jessica Rennee Graham and husband Michael Anthony of In-wood, WV, and Robert Conrad Ahalt of Martinsburg, WV; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Justin Graham and Jocilyn Rennee Graham.He was preceded in death by two brothers, Emory L. Ahalt of Jefferson, MD, and Truman R. Ahalt of Westminster, MD.The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown.Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2012, in Christ Reformed Church Cemetery. The Rev. Chris Frigm will officiate.Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 107 W.
