WOODBRIDGE - Funeral services were held Saturday morning for Mrs. Catherine Gougeon, 73, of 45 New Street in the Leon J. Gerity Funeral Home, 411 Amboy Avenue. A high Mass or requiem was offered afterward in St. James Roman Catholic Church. Burial was in St. James Cemetery.

Mrs. Gougeon, who died Thursday in Perth Amboy General Hospital, has 72 survivors in the immediately family. Born in Perth Amboy, she had resided in Woodbridge 50 years.

Surviving are her husband Joseph E. Gougeon; five sons, Joseph J. and Richard of Woodbridge, Charles of Hopelawn, Eugene of Perth Amboy and Alfred of Fort Mitchell, Ala.; eight daughters, Mrs. Lorraine Szeles of Sewaren, Mrs. Bernadine Malinowski of Hopelawn, Mrs. Vivian Steib of Perth Amboy, Mrs. Lois Dworak and Mrs. Patricia Slecinski of Fords, Mrs. Bernice Jackowski, Mrs. Jacqueline Reilly and Mrs. Brenda Bajek, all of Woodbridge. Another daughter was the late Mrs. Wanda Marshall of South Amboy, who died last year. Also surviving are 47 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
