Dr. Rex Hennington TYLER, TEXAS - Memorial services for Rex Hennington, MD, 88, Tyler, are scheduled for 2:00pm, Friday, July 27 at Hilliard Funeral Home, Van with Chaplain Kenn Somerville officiating. Dr. Hennington passed away on July 21, 2012 in Tyler. Rex H. Hennington was born June 5, 1924 in Ft. Worth, TX to the late Eddie P. Hennington, Sr. and Loretta Huffman Hennington. Rex graduated from Polytechnic High School, Ft. Worth in 1941. He then served in the US Marines from 1942 through 1945 during World War II. He graduated from TCU in 1949 and from Southwestern Medical School, Dallas in 1953. He completed his internship in Riverside, CA, began his medical practice in El Paso, and practiced anesthesiology in Tyler, for 40 years. He also taught at Southwestern Medical School of Dallas. He attended patients with care, love and a great sense of humor. In addition to his dedication of helping others through medicine he said one of his greatest rewards was teaching others to read through the Literacy Council of Tyler. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Texas Phi Chi Medical Fraternity and the Woodcarvers of East Texas. He enjoyed being in the nature God created by camping, fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Karen Hennington. Survivors include 5 children, Eric Hennington, Brian Hennington, Beryl Hennington, Kurt Hennington and Bret Hennington; 6 grandchildren, Erica Dominic, Parker Hennington, Ashley Paul Helms, Alyssa Helms, Sean Hennington and Sloane Hennington; 3 great-grandchildren, Caleb Dominic, Jacob Dominic and Rex Carter Hennington. If desired, memorials can be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, 1402 Rice Road, Suite 100, Tyler, TX 75703 or the Literacy Council of Tyler, 1530 S. SW Loop 323, #20, Tyler, TX 75701.
