Almeda was the first child born in Bridgewater Twp., Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Stephen Wilson and Anna Cogswell.

Almeda married John Bard, Jr. on 12 Jan 1817 in Dimock, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania. They were the parents of three children; Wilson Bard, Sarah Ellen Bard, and an infant daughter.
