Obituary of W. A. Ballew - W. A Ballew, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Ballew, was born in Roane Co., Tennessee, Nov. 1, 1864, departed this life in the home of his sister Annie Borders in Lindsay, California, Dec. 27, 1939, at the age of 75 years. Mr. Ballew came with his parents to Missouri in 1883, at the age of 18 years, spending most of his life here. He was married to Vina (Melvina) Tippey in the year 1891. To this union five children were born, all preceding him in death, but one daughter, Mrs. Eva Lingle of Watts, Oklahoma, who could not attend the funeral on account of illness. His wife passed away 7 years ago. He is outlived by 7 sisters and 4 brothers.He was converted at the age of 21 and joined the Missionary Baptist church when a young man and lived of that faith until death. He has been an Odd Fellow for a number of years and held all Odd Fellows in high esteem. He leaves many friends and relatives to mourn his going, but we realize our loss is Heaven's gain.The body was returned to Winona Monday. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Tuesday morning with Odd Fellows in charge of burial in Winona Cemetery.
