Midget performer and Munchkin in The Wizard of Oz. Carl "Kayo" Erickson was one of the tiniest male midgets to play a munchkin in the film. He stood only thirty nine inches tall. Born on a farm near Corson, South Dakota, in 1917. In 1938, Kayo was discovered by the Harvey Williams midget troupe. He also toured with the Henry Kramer midget troupe. Little Kayo plays one of three munchkin trumpeters, who herald the arrival of the Mayor of Munchkinland. Little Kayo sadly died of pneumonia in 1958.
