Mrs.Gillett, 69, Succumbs to Verona
Mrs. Clara Laufer Gillett, 69, of 6 Genesee PL, died last night in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Winfield E. Dodge, RD 1, Verona. She had been ill about a year.
She was born in Lee Center July 22, 1881, daughter of Charles and Addie Mosher Laufer. In 1892 she moved with her family from Lee Center to Delta. She attended Town of Lee schools. She was married to Mvron N. Gillett April 30, 1902, at New London, with the Rev. O. J. Houghton officiating. Mr. Gillett died Jan. 3, 1915.
From the time of her marriage, Mrs. Gillett made her home in Rome, with the exception of the period from 1939 to 1946, when she lived in Verona. She was a member of the First Baptist Church here and its Vary Circle and Root Philathea Class. She was a past counselor of Col. Gansevoort Council, Daughters of America, and a member of Star of Victory Council, D. of A. She was a member of the Colonial Park Home Bureau Unit.
Surviving besides Mrs. Dodge are a son, Carl E. Gillett, Rome; a brother, Clarance H. Laufer, Rome; a grandchild. Nelson T. Dodge, Verona, and several nieces and nephews.
