Civil War Confederate Brigadier General. At the start of the war, he was a member of the South Carolina Legislature and served until the expiration of his term. He enlisted as a private in Company A, 18th South Carolina. He fought at Second Manassas (Bull Run), South Mountain, and Antietam. Wallace was appointed brigadier general on September 30, 1864. He was reelected to the South Carolina Legislature in 1872 and served three terms. In 1877, Wallace was appointed circuit judge until his retirement in 1893.
