Ben Bonnell died Thursday night. He was born in Platte county, Mo., February 2, 1862, and moved to a farm four miles south of Monrovia, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bonnell, a few years later.
He was married March 4, 1885 to Miss Kate Best, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Best, Atchison county pioneers.
Mr. Bonnell had lived in Atchison county sixty years and was widely known as the very large crowd attending the funeral services testified. He was a good farmer, loyal citizen and upright man.
Surviving are the widow and eight children: Claude Bonnell, of Monrovia; Miss Nellie Bonnell, at home; Mrs. Chas Brown, Mrs. Martin Woodard and Mrs. George Calvert, of Effingham; Mrs. Elmer Burdick, of Valley Falls; Mrs. Henry Glaspy, of Nortonville, and Mrs. Eric Schneider, of Atchison; and nine brothers and sisters, John and Henry Bonnell, Mrs. John Henry and Mrs. Eva Whitaker, of Nortonville; Charles Bonnell of Oklahoma; Mrs. Etta Freeland, of Kingman; Mrs. Charles Beach of Sabetha and Mrs. Homer Pittman and Mrs. Laura Butler, of California.
