Around 1881, George W. Atchison married Maggie Lou Irvine. Her mother objected to the marriage on the grounds that little Maggie was too young. The young couple eloped and were married on an a sand bar in the Red River on the Indian Territory side. When they returned they found themselves homeless. They could not go to her home, nor could George take her to his house. So, some time in the night they came to his sister's (George and Maggie Brown) home. His sister and brother-n-law offered the newly weds their bed while they slept on the floor in the next room. His sister Maggie intervined on the couple's behalf the next morning which enable the couple to live with his parents, The Atchison household, for a few months.
In March 1883, Mabel Edith was born to them and April 12, 1885 Kate was born. About 1893, Marvin was born and then died really young. The family moved to Oklahoma about 1897. Clyde R. Atchison was b. Nov. 19, 1904 in Oklahoma and d. Sept. 26, 1960 in Santa Cruz, California. Ruth Irene Atchison was b. Dec. 24, 1907 in California and d. Nov. 14, 1986 in Butte Co., California. Ruth was married to Otto C. LaRose.
