Petty Officer 2nd Class Clayton R. Beauchamp, of Weatherford, Texas, died Aug. 7 when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device while conducting a dismounted patrol in the Shaban District, Helmand Province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 6, 1st Marine Division (Forward), I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), Camp Pendleton, Calif.

WEATHERFORD -- Clayton Ross Beauchamp, 21, beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, while serving his country in Afghanistan.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at North Side Baptist Church, 910 N. Main St., Weatherford. Interment: Memory Gardens of the Valley, Weatherford. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Clayton Beauchamp Memorial Fund at Legacy Texas Bank, 111 Santa Fe Drive, Weatherford, Texas 76086.
Clayton was born Jan. 16, 1991 in Weatherford. He graduated from Weatherford High School with the Class of 2009. Clayton made his decision to join the United States Navy before he finished high school and became a Navy medic. He was one of three siblings in the Navy and had a long, proud history of military service in his family.
Survivors: Mother and father of Weatherford; sister of Norfolk, Va.; three brothers, grandmother of Weatherford; uncles and aunts and a fiancee and many loving family members and friends.
