Geneva Jones Mattox, age 86, of Cynthiana, Kentucky, died Monday, August 6, 2012, at Grand Haven Nursing Home, in Cynthiana. She was born October 5, 1924, in Harrison County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Nelson Jones and Minnie Groves Jones Baker. She was a member of Central Christian Church and was retired from Ken's New Market.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, William Henry Mattox; and a grandson, Patrick Mattox. Survivors include: a son, William J. Mattox, of Cynthiana; a daughter, Shirley Jean Jackson, of Cynthiana; three grandsons, Kevin Jackson, David Mattox and Donald Jackson, Jr.; two nieces, Carrie Tilton and Pam Toole; a dear friend, Virginia Coy; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 9, at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Battle Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff of Grand Haven Nursing Home for the love and care shown to their mother and grandmother. Pallbearers are Kevin Jackson, David Mattox, Donald Jackson, Darrin Wagoner, Bill Tilton, Kelton Mattox, Wesley Jackson and T. J. Whitson. Honorary pallbearers are her great-grandchildren, Patrick Mattox and Devon Mattox, Dr. William Frank McKemie and Dr. Stephen Besson.
