The 1920 Federal Census for Fort Collins Ward 2, Colorado (Larimer County) shows Charles Gist Jr., age 3, born in Oklahoma; living with his father, Charles H. Gist Sr., a painter and paper hanger, age 27, born in Missouri; and his mother, Addie R., age 24, born in Oklahoma. Also living in the household were Charles Jr.'s siblings: Juanita Gist, age 5, born in Texas; and Eloise Y. Gist, age 1, born in Oklahoma.

On November 3, 1925, Charles Jr.'s sister, Juanita died and was buried in the Fairview Cemetery.

The 1940 Federal Census for Hogan, Oklahoma (Mayes County) shows Charles H. Gist Jr., a house painter, age 24, born in Oklahoma; and his wife, Viola A., age 21, born in Texas. Living with them were two sons: John C. Gist, age 3; and Tommy E. Gist, age 5 months; both born in Oklahoma.

The World War II Army Enlistment Records, 1938-1946 shows that Charles H. Gist Jr., born in 1916 in Oklahoma, enlisted in the U.S. Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma on April 21, 1944 as a private.

Charles died July 25, 1983 in Dallas, Texas (Dallas County) and was buried in Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County) in the Highland Cemetery. Viola died November 27, 1997 in Stephenville, Texas (Erath County) and she was cremated.
