Marilyn Jean Vareberg, 86, a resident of The Dalles, Ore., died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 17, 1926 in Kulm, N.D., the third of three children to Reinhold and Justina (Gehnert) Bohnet. She grew up in North Dakota, graduating from Kulm High School in 1944.
She married Palmer Vareberg on Jan. 1, 1949, in Kulm.
She resided in The Dalles for the past 53 years. She was a member of the Lutheran Church and enjoyed gardening, shopping, camping, fishing and spending time with family She is survived by her sister, Madelyn Midstokke; children Pamela Prante, Steve Vareberg, Darrell Vareberg and his wife Judy, Peter Vareberg and his wife Sue and Jean Heiss; seven grandchildren, Aaron Vareberg, Shane Prante and his wife Laurie, Matthew Prante, Michael Vareberg and his wife Ahnell, Casey Heiss, Jacqueline Vareberg and Harvey Vareberg, and two greatgrandchildren, Nicholas and Sasha Prante.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother and grandson Jason Vareberg. Services will be Friday, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m. at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. also at Spencer, Libby and Powell.
Private interment will be at IOOF Threemile Cemetery.
