Opelousas– A Mass of Christian Burial for Jennie Lee Richard Devillier, age 85, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park. The Reverend Austin Leger will officiate the services.
Jennie Lee Devillier, a native of Port Arthur, TX and lifelong resident of Opelousas, died at 11:40 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at the Opelousas General Health System.
Mrs. Devillier was an active parishioner of the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church where she participated in the Catholic Daughters, the Ladies Altar Society, rosary group, and the choir. She was also a member of the Active Homemakers.
She is survived by two sons, Cordell J. St. Cyr and wife Doris of Houston, TX, Richard "Wayne" Devillier and wife Sherry of Opelousas; a daughter, Catherine D. Hebert and husband Thomas of Opelousas; a brother, Raymond R. Richard and wife Irene of Monks Corner, S.C.; 9 grandchildren, Taryn Daigle and husband Greg, Ashley Menard and husband Norman, Cynthia F. St. Cyr, Jacqueline H. St. Cyr, Christopher M. St. Cyr and wife Peggy, Randall J. St. Cyr and wife Laurie, Brian M. St. Cyr, Amy Domas and husband Carl, and Kim Hebert; 2 step grandchildren, Suzi Dowell, Carol Pitt and husband Mike; and 14 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Devillier was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Elodie Moreau Richard; husbands Harvey St. Cyr and Harold J. Devillier.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 from 2:00- 10:00 p.m. and will reopen on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. A rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
