ECKHART--William R. Pape, 58, of Old Route 40, died suddenly early today enroute to work at a shaft strip mine. Phillip Jenkins, the owner, reportedly found his body about 8 a.m. Born February 22, 1902, he was a son of the late William and Mary Ethel (Holsinger) Pape, of Eckhart. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mae (Brode) Pape; two sons, Richard Pape, Red Hill, and Carl Edward Pape, at home; five daughters, Mrs. John H. Davis [Betty], Tampa, Fla., Mrs. James Brinkman [Mildred], Frostburg, Mrs. Albert Boch [Ellen Janice "Jenny" Boch: 1935/10/14-2019/03/17], Eckhart, and Delores [Smith] and Patricia June Pape [Speir], both at home; a brother, John Pape, of here; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Ware, Mrs. William Plummer, both of Frostburg, and Mrs. Herman Filsinger, Eckhart, and eight grandchildren. Mr. Pape was a member of Eckhart Methodist Church and United Mine Workers of America. The body will be at the Hafer Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
