Mrs. G. E. Bergman
Word has been received of the death of Mrs. G. E. Bergman, formerly Miss Bertha Sutherland, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. George Sutherland residing at West Lawn, which occurred at her home in Loomis, Neb., at an early hour Saturday morning following a brief illness from pneumonia. She was age about 35 years. Her parents and the members of her immediate family were with her when the end came. Mrs. Bergman was a former Grand Island girl, having resided here for many years and is well known in the city. She was graduated from Grand Island College with the class of 1907. Since her marriage to Mr. Bergman, who is principal of the Loomis schools, she has resided at that place.
Surviving her besides her bereaved husband, are four daughters, ranging in age from two to ten years, her parents, Dr. and Mrs. George Sutherland of this city, three brothers, Dr. Arthur C. Sutherland of Los Angeles, Cal.; Dr. E. H. Sutherland, professor of sociology at the University of Illinois, Champaign, Ill.; Dr. Fred Sutherland, of Chicago, and two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Hopwell, of Waterville, Wis., and Mrs. Lillian Carson, of Honolulu, Hawaii.
The body will be brought to this city for burial on Union Pacific train No. 20 Monday evening accompanied by relatives. Funeral services will be held from the First Baptist church Tuesday morning, at 10 o'clock. Rev. R. R. Coon will officiate, assisted by President J. M. Wells of Grand Island College. Burial will be made in the Grand Island cemetery. . .
