Mrs. Winnie Pat Loreda Patterson Abbott, 90, of Yadkinville died Saturday, March 18, 2006, at the home of her daughter, Carolyn Long. She was born Feb. 11, 1916, in Fannie County, Ga. to the late Julius and Hattie Patterson. Mrs. Abbott was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a faithful member of Peace Haven Baptist Church and was a retired caregiver and homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray Johnson Abbott; a daughter, Sandra Kay Abbott; a sister, Ella Mae Martin; and five brothers, Albert Patterson, Ervin Patterson, Osco Patterson, Luther Patterson, and Hassen Patterson; and a son-in-law, Harold Long.

Surviving are her five children, Glenda (J.C.) Brooks, Carolyn Long, Danny (Martha) Abbott, Randy (Ravona) Abbott, Joey (Kamala) Abbott; 10 grandchildren, Tim Brooks, Patricia (David) Williams, Leah (David) Hutchens, Susanne (Danny) Spillman, Keyna (John) Williams, Blake (Heather) Abbott, Beth (Toby) Robertson, Dustin (Shellie) Abbott, Maggie Abbott, Patrick Abbott, 14 great-grandchildren, Ashley and Jonathan Williams, Kayla and Zachary Hutchens, Matthew and Maggie Spillman, Allie and Ashlynn Abbott, Camryn, Reagan, and Riley Robertson, Mia Abbott, Lindley and Avery Williams; a half-brother, Eugene (Dorothy) Patterson, Chickamauga, Ga.; and two half-sisters, Gladys (Hayden) Osborn, Lynchburg, Va., Helen Lashlay, Shannon, Ga.

Her funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Monday at Peace Haven Baptist Church by the Rev. Bruce Freeman. Burial will follow in the Yadkin Memorial Gardens. The family received friends from 6-8:30 p.m. Sunday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Dr Susan Yuson and Hoots Memorial Hospital, Hospice of Yadkin County, and her special caregivers, Sandra Herrick and Kathy Phillips, for all the loving care, prayers, and support given to Mrs. Abbott. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of Yadkin County, P.O. Box 1267, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
