Alice Lou Jean Richter Barlow

On July 31, 2012, at the age of 87, Alice Lou Jean Richter Barlow peacefully passed away into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father. She leaves behind, her eternal companion, William Elbert Barlow and a large posterity. She will be greatly missed by all.
Lou Jean was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 30, 1925 to Violet Preece and Ransom W. Richter. She was the third of four daughters. She grew up in Farmington, Utah and graduated from Davis High School. Lou Jean was very talented. She had a beautiful singing voice, loved music and participated in school plays and sang in musical troupes at the University of Utah. Through the years she improved her skills in art, ceramics and needlework. She left behind the beautiful fruits of her many talents.
She married William Elbert Barlow on May 4, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised a family who love the Lord. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She set examples of service as she lived the Gospel and served in many positions in the Bountiful Stake and 9th ward. Lou Jean and Bill served three missions for the Church: Micronesion Islands, St. George Visitors Center and Salt Lake City. She also worked on Temple Square as a guide. They loved to talk about their wonderful experiences that they had serving their Heavenly Father. Her children were her joy and she always put their needs before her own. Many of her friends have expressed how she had helped them and loved them through the years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, an infant daughter, Judith Ann and a son, William Richter Barlow. She is survived by her husband, William; children, Jeanne Lynn (Paul) Nelson, Susan Kay (David) Beesley, Janet (Matthew) Asmus, Calvin Walter (Teresa) Barlow, Robert Richter (Lori) Barlow, Brent Richter (Audrey) Barlow; Indian Foster daughter, Brenda Olguin; 39 grandchildren and 69 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful Ninth Ward, 585 East Center Street, where friends and family can visit Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
