Einar was born in Kristiansand, Vest Agder, the second child of two from his father's first marriage. He was raised by Govert's second wife, Amalia. He arrived in the United States with his family on 27 Oct 1915.

Einar married Esther Anderson 19 Dec 1929 in Woodford, WI and they had three daughters.

ABBOTSFORD (Special) - Einar Behrents, 62, Abbotsford died Saturday morning in the Colby Clinic. The funeral was Tuesday in Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford.
Surviving are his wife, the former Esther Anderson who he married in 1929 at Woodford; three daughters, Mrs. Ernest Solberg, Ferryville, Wis., Mrs. Robert E. Johnson, Eau Claire, and Mrs. Joseph Pearson, Warrens; one brother, Norman Behrents, Menomonie; six sisters, Mrs. Lauritz Espeland, Chicago, Mrs. Ted Olechno, Mrs. Thomas Hall, Milwaukee, Mrs. Odin Thorud, Menomonie, Mrs. Willis Kistner, Oshkosh, and Mrs. Anne Hovind, St. Paul and his mother Mrs. G. H. Behrents, Menomonie.
