She was the wife of John William Hill, marrying him when she was 15 years old on 8 August 1878 in Perry, Taylor, Florida. Susan applied for a Civil War Widow's Pension in April 1910. In the application, she stated that she had been married to John until his death on 3 Dec 1909 in Madison, FL. She stated in the application that she had resided in Florida since about 15 Dec 1877. She stated that her husband, John William Hill had enlisted in Company A, Florida Cow Cavalry on 10 May 1864 and was honorably discharged at the close of the war. Pension application # A01123.
