Italian ballerina born in Milan. A pupil of Carlo Blasis, she toured the US in 1883. In 1887 she made her debut at the Arcadia Theatre, St. Petersburg. Her great success forced the direction of the Imperial Theatres to engage her as a guest star with the Maryinsky Theatre. She made her debut there dacing in Invanov's 'Haarlem Tulip. She created the much coverted role of Aurora in Petipa's 'Sleeping Beauty' with the music of Tchaikovsky. She left Russia in 1891 and continued to dance and teach in Italy and in Paris. Her last appearance as a dancer was as wicked fairy Carabosse in Diaghilev's production of 'Sleeping Beauty' in 1921, although called 'The Sleeping Princess.' Brianza was the Godmother of Sonia Woicikowska (1919). No definate date of Brianza's death in available but it states in Wilson's 'Dictionary of Ballet' that she committed suicide in Paris, although gives no authority for the statement or the year of her death.
