s/o Rev Addison and Rebecca (Chase) Abbott; h/o (1) Ida J Smith; h/o (2) Cynthia A Berry whom he married in 1869.

He came with his parents to Paris, ME when he was ten months old.

His father Rev Addison Abbott was a Baptist minister and was pastor of the church at North Paris, ME until his health failed. His mother Rebecca and one sister died when a young girl. His father died when he was ten years old.

His mother later married William Drake of Sumner, ME where they lived a number of years finally moving to North Paris, ME where he spent the remainder of his life.

Addison and Cynthia had seven children born to them. They were:

*George A Abbott of Shelburne, NH;
* William E Abbott of South Waterford, ME;
* Ida M Brown of Boston, MA;
* Arthur B Abbott;
* Leroy J Abbott;
*M. Lewis Abbott
* James E Abbott

All of North Paris, ME.

Mr and Mrs Abbott lived on the farm where he had been as a small boy 13 years.

During apart of this time he was associated in the sawmill business with N.J. Cushman. In 1883 he sold his share in the sawmill to Mr Cushman and bought the farm which adjoined his own. On this place he has since remained.

He was engaged in the creamery business at West Paris, ME for seventeen yeras. For the past fifteen years his son Leroy has lived with them and carried on his farm.

The last few years of his life not being able to do hard work he spent in growing shrubs and plants of all kinds suitable for Maine climate, as he was very fond of flowers especially roses. He was always carrying a bouquet of flowers some choice seeds or root of a shrub to his friends and neighbors.

He was a charter member and past master of West Paris, ME grange and always attended when possible. He was a deacon of the Baptist church of North Paris, ME.

He is survived by his wife Cynthia; seven children; 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He is predeceased by his mother who died in 1896.
