Reid Herman Allen, Jr., 64, of Effingham, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012.

Mr. Allen was born in Florence, SC a son of Dorothy Gainey Allen and the late Reid Herman Allen, Sr. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, earned an Associate Degree in Criminology from Florence-Darlington Tech and was a former manager of Piggly Wiggly.

He was preceded in death by his father who died in 1999.

Surviving are his mother of Effingham; sons, Tracey Clarence Allen of Maryville, TN and Scott Allen of Effingham, SC; brother, David Allen of Effingham; sisters, Amy (Chris) Galloway of Effingham and Rose (Ray) Streett of Florence and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the Florence National Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
