Christine E. Acheson, 79, of Dresden, Ohio died Saturday evening, June 9, 2012 at her home.
Born October 15, 1932 in Steubenville, Ohio she was a daughter of the late Lawrence P. and Ann Marie (Schrack) Marx. Mrs. Acheson was a waitress at Mickey's Restaurant in Zanesville, Ohio for many years. She loved her children and was very active in their activities.
She was involved in many school functions including PTA at Sheridan Elementary School in Zanesville and also Hancock School and she was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She enjoyed cooking, crafts and flower gardening.
Surviving are three sons and daughters in-law, Jerry and Barbara Acheson of Blue Rock, Ohio, Steven and Mary Acheson of Nashport, Ohio and David and Melissa Acheson of Dresden; two daughters and sons in-law, Linda and Burris Price of Vincent, Ohio and Karen and Arthur Shumate of Cary, North Carolina; one brother, Lawrence Marx of Virginia; four sisters, Lorena Kemp of Steubenville, Caroline Furr of North Carolina, Diane McArthy of Florida and Lynda Griggs of Virginia; 13 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard O. Acheson whom she married December 3, 1949 and who died September 30, 1996 and two brothers, Harold Robb and Richard Marx.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street. Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the funeral home with Pastor Christopher Riggs officiating. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.
