Zenith Black

Zenith "Grandma" Black, 98, of 2237 Highway 34 East, died at 7 a.m. Sunday, May 30, 1999, at Parkview Care Center.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Free Methodist Church with the Rev. Norman Channel officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Family visitation will be Thursday from 7-8 p.m. at Behner Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Heart Fund, Diabetes Foundation, or Free MMethodist Chuurch.

Mrs. Black was born Oct. 5, 1900, in Stockport, the daughter of George Lincoln and Ines (sic. Inez) Belle Ford Lyon. She married George W. Black June 14, 1917, in Keosauqua. He died July 25, 1967.

Mrs. Black had lived at the Black farm hoe place where she had farmed with her husband. She was a farm homemaker for 50 years. She was a grandma sitter. She was a member of Free Methodist Church.

She had lived with her granddaughter and her husband Barbara and Dennis Mercer since 1979. She moved to Parkview Care Center in January 1997.

She is survived by one daughter, Frances Opal Black Prunty of Willifordm Ark.; one son, Charles Edward Black of National City, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 46 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three great-grandsons; two great-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Nina, Mabel, Helen, Lola Mae and Stella; and three brothers, Harry, Sam and an infant.
