Lurinda was born in New York State and came to Waseca county with her parents about 1857. Lurinda's parents, Samuel and Myra Dodge, were among the very early settlers of Waseca county. She married Mr. Philo C Bailey on 26 Dec 1867. (Mr. Bailey's 1st wife, Avis Slocum, died in Sep 1865.)

By all accounts, Lurinda was a loving mother to Avis and Philo's 2 girls, Kate and Gertie.

Lurinda and Philo Bailey are the parents of a son, Fred, and a daughter, Lena.

Note: The 1847 birth year is based on U.S. census data for 1850 (age 3), 1860 (age 13), 1870 (age 23), and 1880 (age 33). Later census data is inconsistent. The 1950 birthdate in J.E. Child's 1905 book, "Child's History of Waseca County, Minnesota: The Story of the Pioneers. Whiting & Luers, Publishers" is most likely a similar error.
