Doris Standish Brahm SOUTH BRISTOL - Doris Brahm, 89, of Route 21, died on July 27, 2012, at F.F. Thompson Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Doris was born in South Bristol on Aug. 6, 1922, to the late Elmer and Anna (Randall) Standish. She was a graduate of Canandaigua Academy. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, South Bristol Grange, South Bristol Historical Society, Bristol Springs Free Church and the ladies aide society of the church. Doris was an involved resident of the town of South Bristol, where she served as town historian, tax collector and, during her late husband's term as town supervisor, as the assistant supervisor. She was an avid bridge player and a Cub Scout den mother. She and her husband raised several foster children over the years. In addition to being active in many organizations, she helped maintain the family farm. Raspberries, grapes and turkeys were her areas of expertise. Never one to be idle, she had worked for Lincoln Bank, the Holloway House and retired in the late 1990s from Finger Lakes Race Track, where she also served as secretary of the local union. She and her husband spent many winters in Port Richey, Fla. She was the widow of John "Jack" Brahm Jr., who died in 2000. Survivors include four sons, John H. (Katharine) Brahm III, Roger S. (Cynthia) Brahm, Thomas E. (Kathleen) Brahm and Paul E. (Sandee) Brahm, all of South Bristol; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jacena Brahm; brother-in-law, Kenneth Fletcher; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Green. Friends may call on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Fuller Funeral Home, 190 Buffalo St., Canandaigua, Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Bristol Springs Free Church, 6481 County Road 12, Naples. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, it has been suggested that memorials be directed to Bristol Springs Free Church, 6481 County Road 12, Naples, NY 14512; or Thompson Hospital Foundation, 350 Parrish St., Canandaigua, NY 14424.
