Lois Elaine Blair, daughter of Rev. Elmer A. and Edna B. (Oettel) Fritz, was born May 30, 1928 at the home of her parents near Holton, KS in Jackson County. She spent her youth in the Holton area, eventually moving with her family to Iowa where she graduated from Auburn High School with the class of 1946. Lois furthered her education at Bethany College in Mankato, MN from 1948 to 1949.
On April 13, 1952, Lois was united in marriage to William R. Blair at the Zion Lutheran Church in Auburn, IA. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Lake City, IA for nine and one-half years, then moved to Hartley, IA in August of 1961, where they raised their two daughters, Rebecca and Rachel.
Over the years, Lois had been employed as a Linotype Operator at newspaper offices in Auburn, Sac City, Lake City, Ocheyedan and Hartley, IA. While she found the work to be rewarding, caring for her growing family came first. She enjoyed sewing for her daughters, which carried over to later years. Her creative side was expressed in the many beautiful embroidery and cross stitch projects she completed. Crafts and scrapbooking were a favorite pastime, but she always managed to find time for working puzzles or doing a good crossword. Lois took pleasure in being around children, so volunteering at the local school in the kindergarten class was a natural fit. She also helped with Sunday School at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley, and was a member of the Friendly Circle. Lois passed from this life on Monday, August 3, 2015 at the age of 87.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband, Bill Blair and son-in-law Kevin Greene.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Rebecca (Merlin) Sandersfeld of Harris, IA, and Rachel Greene of Denison, IA; grandchildren: Adam (Ashley) Sandersfeld of Hartley, IA, Jered Greene of Breda, IA, Nathan Sandersfeld of Harris, IA, Noah Greene of Denison, IA, Hannah Greene of Slater, IA; great-granddaughter, Aubree Sandersfeld of Hartley, IA; brother, Richard Fritz of Minocqua, WI; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
