He lived in Chester County, Pennsylvania prior to the war and enlisted in the 4th Delaware on August 11, 1862. He was noted as being employed as a Currier.
He was captured at Weldon Railroad on August 19, 1864 and confined in Richmond, Virginia on August 20th. He was then sent to Salisbury, North Carolina on October 9, 1864. He was admitted to the hospital on December 10th then died the following day.
Richard "Died Of Disease", Pneumonia, while a POW of the Confederate Army during the war.
He is believed to be interred in what is known as the "Trench".
