Carol Robinson Atkinson, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 in Sandy, Utah, due to complications from a fall. She was born on October 5, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Carol was the third of six children born to Amos and Mildred Robinson. She grew up in Laketown, Utah and graduated from North Rich High School. She moved to Logan after graduation to attend Utah State University. She married Gerald N. Atkinson on March 18, 1960 in the Logan L.D. S. Temple.
Carol was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served in many callings including volunteering as a docent for over 15 years with the Museum of Church History and Art. Jerry and Carol served an LDS Church mission in Nashville, Tennessee as well as an LDS Church inner-city mission in Salt Lake City, Utah. Church service was second nature to Carol.
Carol enjoyed stamp collecting, reading, quilting, cooking, crafting and sewing. Most important to Carol was her family and she loved them all dearly.
Survived by her husband, Jerry Atkinson; children: Sherilyn Houle of Provo, UT; Brent Atkinson (Stacy) of Draper, UT; Darren Atkinson (Patti) of Sandy, UT; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters; siblings: Marge Sharp (Jack) of SLC, UT; Alice Chappell (Alex) of Gilbert, AZ; Doris Robinson of Provo, UT; Alan Robinson (Betty) of Ft. Collins, CO; and Melvin Robinson of Tillamook, OR; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Family would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff at Alta Ridge Assisted Living for taking such good care of mom.
A viewing will be held Sunday, July 29, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive, Holladay, Utah. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Holladay 4th Ward, 4917 South Viewmont Street (approx 2390 East), Holladay, Utah. Interment will be at Holladay Memorial Park, 4900 South Memory Lane (1990 East), Holladay, Utah at 12:30 p.m
