Barbara Jean Anderson, 72, of Greeley, CO, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2008 at North Colorado Medical Center - Hospice Inpatient Unit. She was born January 31, 1936 in Evans, CO to Charles and Barbara Elizabeth (Fischer) Hirsch. She married Marvin D. Anderson in Las Vegas, NV, and he died in 1996.She lived in the Greeley area most her life where she graduated from Greeley High and Aims Community College.Barbara was an entrepreneur who pioneered The Coin Operated Technical Institute of Colorado, which was the first in the world. She was the coordinator for Meals on Wheels of Weld County for many years and the assistant director of the American Cancer Society. She was a member of the Evans Moose Lodge, Evans VFW Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society.Her hobbies included art, music, which she played by ear, loved sliver smithing, collecting antiques, gambling, traveling, clothes, shoes, loved to go to garage sales and adored her two dogs.She is survived by her daughters, Vicki and husband, Wolf Maldoff and Cindi and husband, Jim Richardson, III, all of Greeley; sisters, Irene Riddle of Boulder and Betty Cloud of Greeley; grandchildren, Troy Weinbender, Joni Salazar, Kristin Marcove-Martin and Lindsey Richardson, all of Greeley.She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, and seven brothers.Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at Allnutt Funeral Service/Macy Chapel. A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 21, 2008 at the Macy Chapel. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 702 13th Street, Greeley, CO 80631.
