William Lewis Blankenship was born to William M Blankenship and Elizabeth "Betsey" Lee Blankenship, one of about eight siblings. His next older brother, Hiram F Blankenship moved to Greene County, Missouri in the 1850's, and William L moved before 1870 to Ozark County. He married Sarah Jane Humbard/Humbyrd in Polk County, TN in 1861. They had a total of eleven children, most living in Ozark County, near Marion. Sarah Jane survived William, dying in Teagues, MO, in 1928. The youngest of their children died in Springfield in 1962. Alexander, a son, died in 1881 or so, and is buried here also.
