Funeral services for Julia S. Anderson, 81, former Potsdam town clerk and tax collector, was held in Trinity Episcopal Church, Potsdam. Burial was made in Bayside Cemetery.

Mrs. Anderson died July 29 at Forest Ridge Convalescent Center, Bremerton, Wash. She had been a resident of Washington since 1979.

Surviving are three daughters, Judy Papineau, Ann Rennie and Kit Moyer; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Born Nov. 3, 1912 in Valley Stream, she was the daughter of Maurice William and Bertha Rowe Freeman Schuck. She attended the Crane School of Music at Potsdam State University Colle. She married George Edward (Ted) Anderson Sept. 3, 1933 in Huntington.

Mr. Anderson was the mayor of Potsdam from 1961 to 1969. He died Aug. 16, 1970.

While living in Potsdam at 19 Hillcrest Drive, Mrs. Anderson was town clerk and tax collector from 1970 to 1979. She was active in the beautification committee of Potsdam and worked as a bookkeeper for William F. Anderson, Inc., Potsdam.

She was active in Trinity Church as director of the Altar Guild, chapel organist, choir director, and vestment seamstress. She served as chairwoman for many church dinners and bazaars.
