Ruth Lucille Blacksmith, 84, Marceline, MO, died October 3, 1992, at Pioneer Health Center, Marceline, MO, where she had been a resident for the past six years. The body was cremated. A memorial service was held in the East Day Room, at Pioneer Health Center.
Bob Downing led the service. The ashes will be interred at a later date in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Marceline, MO. The family arrangements were directed by Bentley-Delaney Funeral Home, Marceline, MO.
Ruth Lucille was born February 18, 1908, in Marceline, MO, Daughter of William and Lee (Utley) Olinger. She married Oscar Elmer Sportsman. He preceded her in death. She was married to Nelson L. Blacksmith, January 19, 1952. He also preceded her in death.
Surviving are a Daughter-in-law, Joan Sportsman, Marceline, MO; a Son-in-law, Dale Hoskins, of Marceline, MO; 6 Grandchildren, Bruce Hoskins, state of Ohio, Laurel Newman, of Bucklin, MO, Larry Sportsman, of St. Charles, MO, Jackie Schmitt and Rick McCollum, both of Marceline, MO, and Susie Overton, Brookfield, MO; 13 Great-Grandchildren; a niece Charlene Winstead, of California. Also preceding her in death were her Parents; a Son, William Gail ‘Shorty" Sportsman; a Daughter, Jean Lee Hoskins; and a Sister, Dorothy Kline.
