The subject of above notice was born in Anderson county East Tennessee, December 15th., 1809, was married June 10th 1830 to Mary Ann Potter and came among the earliest Pioneers to this coast. He lived in Napa county about 14 years, in Mendocino county 3 years, and came to this county in August 1876. He was a member of the Baptist Church of forty years standing. A man of fixed principles and sterling worth. He leaves the wife of his youth, now past her three-score years, four sons, Benjamin (Bartley) Franklin, George Washington, John Potter, Thomas Jepson and three daughters, Sally Ann, Elizabeth Frances, Dice Ann, besides grand children and great grand children to mourn his never-ending absence.
