Minnie (McLin) Christy was born to Thomas T. and Nancy Jane (Taylor) McLin on a farm near Gore, Hocking County, OH. She moved in 1868 or 1869 to Jackson County, KS with her parents and siblings and settled on a farm near Soldier.

She was married to John M. Boan on Jan. 2, 1885 at Holton, KS. Two children were born to this union: Jessie and Etta. This marriage ended in divorce.

On Dec. 18, 1894 she was married to George Alfred Christy at Holton. To this marriage were born three children: Alfred, Byron and Carl. The family had moved to Emporia, Lyon County, KS sometime before 1900.
