Mrs. Eva Marion Arnold, aged 86 years, widow of John W. Arnold, died of pneumonia at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. William Whorton, Third street, Oakland, early on Tuesday morning.
Mrs. Arnold was born near Fort Pendleton on April 28, 1846, a daughter of the late William and Mary Waltz, who resided in Oakland for a number of years following the Civil War and who died there forty years ago. For more than eight years Mrs. Arnold made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Whorton.
Funeral services are being held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Whorton home. Rev. C. A. Shike, pastor of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be made in Oakland cemetery.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. J. W. Whorton, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. (Transcribed by Ronn E. Friend, 2X great-grandson.)
