After a lingering illness Mrs. Mary E. Humes passed into the great beyond last Thursday, death occurring at her home, No 8 Mill street. Mrs. Humes was the wife of Wm. H. Humes and had been his companion and beloved helpmate for many years. She was born in Philadelphia an was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Mateer. She was aged 66 years and had resided in Duquesne for a long time. She had borne her affliction with fortitude and slept away to rest. Her husband, who is an old soldier and a well-known member of the G.A.R. has the heartfelt sympathy of many intimate friends in his bereavement. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon and interment was made in Richland cemetery.
