Mary, a lifelong resident of Abiquiú, passed away surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her parents Gabriel and Corina Gallegos.
Mary was survived by her husband Juan Durán; daughter Karen Durán-Suazo (husband Joseph) of Abiquiú; two sons: Demetrio Martinez (wife Geraldine) of Peñasco and Miguel "Andres" Durán (wife Kim) of White Rock; grandchildren: Alyssa, Justin, Damian, Tayler, Megan and Nathaniel; great grandchildren: Mariah and Maison; sisters: Perla Davis (husband Charlie), Pablita "Gugu" Lujan; brothers: Eloy "Pancho" Gallegos (wife Juanita) and Lupe Gallegos (wife Delfina); and several nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Mary's family was her pride and joy and she loved to spend time with them. She was an amazing cook and she enjoyed going to the casino.
Recitation of the Rosary was on 25 July 2012 at the Rivera Family Funeral Home in Española. On 26 July 2012, a 2nd Rosary was recited followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Abiquiú. Burial was in the Abiquiú Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers: Cruz Gallegos, Nicos Gallegos, Dennis Gallegos, Estevan Gallegos, Misha Gallegos, Paul Lujan, Gabriella Lujan, and Abedon Lujan.
