Sylacauga, AL - Graveside service for Grace Lyman Norris Nealeans, 102, will be Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Ross Reddick officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 17 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nealeans, daughter of Elizabeth Duck Norris and John Calhoun Norris, was born in Columbus, Georgia on October 25, 1909. She lived in Alabama most of her life. She was a retired piano teacher, having received her training at the Birmingham Conservatory of Music, which later became the music department at Birmingham Southern College. She became a member of the faculty of the Conservatory at age 17 and taught there for several years, taught in Atlanta during World War II, and taught in Sylacauga from 1945 to 1983. She was active in the Sylacauga Music Study Club and sponsored a Junior Music Club for several years. She was a certified teacher with the Alabama Music Teachers' Association and served as a judge at district auditions and achieved Emeritus status in 1980.

In 1930, she married G.J. "Jack" Nealeans. Mr. Nealeans founded the Educator's Music Supply in 1947, and after his death in 1972, Mrs. Nealeans continued the business for eight years.

She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church since coming to Sylacauga in 1947.

She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Nealeans Culpepper and Susan Nealeans White; son-in-law Horace R. White; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be Horace White, Roger White, Zach White, Clifford Ausborn, Chris Kramer, Doug Dickey and Mark Conrad.

The family will accept flowers or donations to the Music Fund of First Presbyterian Church of Sylacauga, 100 Norton Ave., Sylacauga, AL 35150.
