Born in the Bronx, NY, the daughter of Edward and Edith Biele, she lived most of her life in Yonkers, NY. Attended and graduated Yonkers High School before attending Columbia Business School. She worked for the Burnham Corp., a manufacturer of Greenhouses, as a claims adjustor for approximately 13 years before retiring in 1981. During WWII, she enlisted in the Women‘s Army Corp., where she was promoted to the rank of Masters Sergeant. She worked for Military Intelligence in the Pentagon and was awarded the Legion of Merit Medal for her substantial contribution to the war against Japan. She was the fifth enlisted member of the Women‘s Army Corp. to be decorated with the prestigious award. She was also awarded the New York State Conspicuous Service Cross for her "credible service to the United States and the State of New York".

Surviving are her husband; one son; one daughter; one brother; and five grandchildren.

One daughter preceded her in death.
